In today’s electronic interconnected world, records and information management has evolved to the point where privacy and security considerations are no longer a “nice to have” but compulsory part of the process. In today’s AI-obsessed environment, it’s imperative RIM professionals be involved (from the beginning) in the creation/deployment of AI systems. Creating successful relationships amongst these constituencies can be difficult but will reap rewards. Having legal counsel to promote interdisciplinary communication and process helps. This session will delve into:

• Taxonomy [Records Management; Information Governance; Data Governance; Artificial Intelligence; Generative Artificial Intelligence; Machine Learning; Privacy; Data Protection; Security]
• Distinguishing between using AI for Records Management and incorporating Records Management requirements into AI systems
• Risks of Using Generative AI
• Collaboration strategies to incorporate Privacy, Security, and AI Governance into a Records Management Program (and vice versa?)

Our Speaker:   

Christina Ayiotis serves as Assistant General Counsel, Cyber Security, Privacy, Records, & AI at Lumen Technologies. Prior roles include teaching a Masters Level Information Policy class at The George Washington University; VP, Security Services at OCC; Chief Cybersecurity Officer at WiseLaw; and Deputy GC at CSC. She led global programs at Booz Allen, Ernst & Young International, and Deloitte. Ms. Ayiotis earned a J.D from William & Mary Law School; a BS in Biology and a BA in Philosophy (Minors in Mathematics & French) magna cum laude / University Honors from Virginia Commonwealth University; and a Certificate in AI Strategy from Cornell University. She has been an active Member in Good Standing of the Virginia State Bar since 1991; the District of Columbia Bar since 1993; and holds court admissions in the US Courts of Appeals for the Fourth and Federal Circuits; the District of Columbia Court of Appeals; the Virginia Supreme Court; and the US Court of International Trade. She is a Certified Records Manager (since 2008), a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (since 2023), and a Certified AI Governance Professional (since August 15, 2024). Most importantly, she is the extremely proud single Mom of a PhD Candidate in Biomedical Neuroengineering at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
