This year the Maryland State Archives announced the launch of a crowdsourcing effort to digitize collections within its holdings. The goal of the project is to increase online access to the Maryland State Archives records. Joining the public’s interest with our digitization capabilities has resulted in a project that will benefit researchers and preserve records. Volunteers have made major contributions to other crowdsourcing efforts and we have continued to build on that successful initiative.

Our speaker for this webinar Corey A. Lewis, Assistant State Archivist, Maryland State Archives. Corey leads Maryland State Archive’s Information, Appraisal, and Digitization operations, and also serves as a liaison for Information Technology. He has worked within all aspects of imaging and digitization since beginning his career at the Archives in 1999. His knowledge and technical expertise has facilitated the technological advances of the Archives digitization operations and electronic archives. Corey has spent his career pushing for access, efficiency, and partnership. Most recently, under his guidance, MSA has been able to collaborate with community archives on several projects. Previously he served as the Senior Director of Digitization and Constituent Services. Corey lives in Anne Arundel county and enjoys all things Ravens.
